sustainability
Everything we do begins with care — for the land, the animals, and the people we work with.
From the open pastures of New Zealand to skilled hands in Italy and Lithuania, every Welhavens garment carries a quiet commitment:
to honour nature, people, and animals — in every step of the process.
We work only with trusted partners in Europe to ensure our production remains close, traceable, and truly ethical.
Our Merino wool is certified at source by ZQ, and spun at Reda 1865 — the first Italian textile mill to become both B Corp and EMAS certified.
We believe sustainability is not a feature.
It’s a foundation.
And it begins with the materials we choose.
our vision
At Welhavens, we create timeless pieces for those who choose quality over quantity.
Our philosophy is rooted in slow fashion — garments that feel as good on the skin as they are for the planet.
We believe in sustainability with depth: natural fibres, minimal intervention, and full transparency.
Each piece is seasonless, washable, and made to last — combining thoughtful design with the highest standards for animal welfare, working conditions, and environmental care.
our wool
Welhavens lingerie is made with 100% natural, biodegradable Merino wool, certified by ZQ — the world’s leading ethical wool standard.
The wool comes from hand-selected farms in New Zealand, where animals roam freely and land stewardship is a way of life. These farms meet strict standards for animal welfare, biodiversity, and working conditions.
Our fabric is then spun in Biella, Italy, by Reda 1865, using their innovative CompAct³ technology — enhancing softness, elasticity, and durability while making the fabric machine washable without superwash.
No plastic coatings. No harsh chemicals. No microplastics.
Merino wool is naturally high-performing. It regulates temperature, resists odour, wicks moisture, and feels soft and breathable — all year round.
At just 17.5 microns, our fibres are exceptionally fine — perfect for next-to-skin wear.

plastic and Packaging
We avoid plastic wherever possible — both in our garments and our packaging.
Our fabric is made without superwash treatment, which often involves plastic coatings that release microplastics in the wash. Instead, we use Reda’s CompAct³ technology to make the wool machine washable while preserving its natural integrity.
While our bra boning is currently plastic, we are actively sourcing better alternatives that meet our standards for comfort, durability, and sustainability.
We’ve also reduced plastic in shipping. Every garment is hand-wrapped in recycled silk tissue — no poly bags, no excess.
Our Standards
We don’t follow trends.
We create lasting pieces designed to be worn, washed, and loved — not replaced.
By keeping our production within Europe, we reduce shipping emissions and maintain close relationships with every supplier. From knitting to finishing, we know exactly where and how each garment is made.
Sustainability isn’t about perfection.
It’s about responsibility — and doing better, every season.
